Providing project management services to support the development of a new sustainability and environmental centre at St Columba Anglican School
Located on the mid north coast of New South Wales, the school sets a new standard in environmentally sustainable building practices, presenting an opportunity to employ a range of energy efficient designs to provide a healthy and regenerative place for learning and play.
The $3m project involved the construction of a two-storey building containing four large classrooms, offices, storages areas and a covered breakout spaces. External works included refurbishing the existing amphitheater to align with the new Centre’s sustainable design.
Key aspects of the Sustainability and Environmental Centre include:
- Eco-friendly designs that take advantage of the environment to maximise views, sun-shading and natural ventilation
- Expansive, flexible teaching areas that connect the outdoors with indoor learning spaces
- A display that reflects the buildings real time energy consumption vs the energy being generated by the solar panels
- Light sensitivity-controlled energy efficient LED lighting and mix-mode air-conditioning
