SAR Technical Conference 2023

SAR 3
SAR Award winners

Our 2023 Site Assessment and Remediation (SAR) technical conference was held recently, focusing on ‘insights, technical shares, and case studies’ reflecting the diversity of challenges our people are helping address each day.

From our newest graduates right through to senior project managers, conference participants heard presentations on a range of field related or technical topics demonstrating the breadth of disciplines and Leading with Science® thinking.

We were delighted to be joined by our interstate colleagues including Senior Principal Environmental Engineer Matthew Locke, Principal Environmental Consultant Matt Bond, and HSEQ leader Peter Berndt, who provided further insights into current trends in our industry and considerations for managing risks and quality.

Formal conference proceedings were capped off at the Awards night and dinner to celebrate the achievements of the team. Congratulations to all our nominees and the award winners, which included:

  • Project Management: Tim Shanahan
  • Health and Safety: Adi Saxeda
  • Field excellence: Ellie Walker
  • Morale: Gilberto Ponce-Rios
  • Quality: Tom Agar
  • Technical: Sakar Shrestha

Special mention to our Judges’ and People’s choice awards for:

  • Best conference presentation and favourite content: Stephanie McColl
  • Best delivery: Adi Saxena

The team took ‘time out’ to enjoy the local flavours of the region across a range of activities. From golfing, a hike up the Flinders Peak Walk, a visit to the Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre, and a tour of the local Bellarine Distillery, it was a great way to conclude what had been an incredibly rewarding few days to further connect with so many talented colleagues in such beautiful surrounds.

Everyone left inspired by the amazing contribution our people make to improve the environmental outcomes for our clients, and our community. Thank you to the team at the beautiful Waurn Ponds Estate Conference Centre for hosting our event.

We look forward to many more in the future!
