Providing design and engineering support for a purpose built, shared facility that will support efficient and effective off aircraft maintenance for F-35A Joint Strike Fighter aircraft at the RAAF Base Williamtown.
As the Project Manager and Contract Administrator, Tetra Tech Coffey’s team worked closely with the client and led the Managing Contractor and their team of consultants through design and construction to successfully achieve the Australian Commonwealth’s objectives.
Challenges faced and overcome included:
- Managing access throughout construction on an active Defence Base
- Demolition of an existing facility and active Aircraft Toway prior to commencement
- Successful implementation of evolving design parameters to better accommodate the end user
- Finding solutions to unique challenges whilst maintain a high level of safety and security.
On completion, a high quality standalone facility that satisfied our client’s objectives was handed to the Australian Commonwealth in line with the program and budget expectation.
